Stop the Debt!

PAUL BUNYANThanks to a series of political shenanigans gone bad, the 2016 Minnesota Legislative Session ended with no bonding bill. What does that mean? Taxpayers in this state were saved from a billion dollars in debt.

Minnesota's Constitution requires that legislators balance a budget, however politicians have created a clever process called bonding to get pass that requirement. Once the general funds budget is balanced, legislators draft a massive bonding bill full of pork and "emergency" projects. Recently, these bonding bills have topped $1 Billion.

Since this recent bill failed, we actually did manage to balance the books. However, the governor is likely to call a special session and Speaker Kurt Daudt (the Republican) is going around the state asking for a special session so we can increase the debt. Tell your legislator to stop the debt by opposing the bonding bill.
